James Pimm opens an oyster kiosk next to the Bank of England in the heart of the City. Together with oysters and molluscs, Mr. Pimm offers a tonic to help the digestion of his invention, a drink based on gin, quinine and a mix of herbs served in a glass called N°1 Cup.He likes tonic so much that Mr. Pimm, twenty years later, puts it on the market under the name of Pimm's N°1 Cup. Over time, the range of Pimm's products has diversified. Of the other five Pimm's created, only N°3, based on brandy, and N°6, based on vodka, remain on the market. In Italy you can only find N° 1, still produced with the same recipe of 1840, whose secret formula is known only by six people.
